Unique Voice Scholarship
Robert Redford and Milagro will award scholarships to prospective students interested in studying at Santa Fe University of Art and Design. On an annual basis, Mr. Redford and Milagro will select candidate(s) that, in addition to being admitted to SFUAD, meet the criteria set out below.
Applicants to The Film School are eligible to apply for the Unique Voice Scholarship, which awards 100% of costs related to tuition, room and board, and base fees, for up to five years or until graduation (whichever comes first), provided the student remains in good standing. The only standard school items not funded by the scholarship are transportation, books, and personal expenses.
To be eligible, the candidate must:
Be a prospective student who represents and brings forth the voice of indigenous people from the United States and the world.
Be admitted to SFUAD’s BFA in Film degree program.
Demonstrate appreciation for the mission of the Robert Redford/Milagro Initiative Scholarship Program.
Application Requirements for the Unique Voice Scholarship
Please include information on one or several of the following topics:
Information about your life
Your past actions on behalf of indigenous peoples and your position on the importance of indigenous voices in contemporary society
Your reasons for pursuing a degree in film and your expectations for studying at SFUAD
Your aspirations for a post-graduate life/career in film
Candidates must first be admitted to the school through SFUAD’s normal process. Candidates who are admitted to the school, must satisfy the criteria set forth by the Scholarship Program including submission of an essay and/or video. The deadline for completing the admissions process and being considered for the Scholarship Program is February 1, 2014. SFUAD will then provide the qualified candidate’s information (application materials, audition/portfolio, essay, etc.) to representatives of Robert Redford and the Milagro Initiative for their review and consideration. Candidates may be required to participate in an interview prior to selection. Selections will be made by Robert Redford and the Milagro Initiative. Candidates will be notified of the results of their interest no later than March 1 for Fall semester start. Redford, the Milagro Initiative and SFUAD will award the Scholarship program subject to their discretion. Renewal Conditions:
Students must maintain satisfactory academic progress and remain in the academic program for which the award was given.
Students must be in good financial standing with no outstanding debt to Santa Fe University of Art and Design
