There’s no waiting period for first-year students—all performing arts students audition for mainstage productions upon arrival in their freshman year.
Performing Arts
Although actors perform their art for an audience, the craft of acting, of becoming a different person, is deeply personal. It takes time and dedication to learn technique and to understand how to access those parts of you that can turn into someone else on stage.
Each part of a production is an art unto itself—designing and building sets, developing and producing costumes, devising and executing lighting schemes, and creating and staging sound effects.
Our Performing Arts program introduces students to all facets of stage production. Because of this strong foundation, our theatre graduates are known and respected around the country for their knowledge and professionalism. And, unlike many conservatory programs, we have no waiting period for first-year students—all performing arts students audition for mainstage productions upon arrival in their freshman year.
Students also perform in studio shows, recitals, workshops, music forums, and student films. National and international theatre professionals also visit regularly as guest directors and actors and to lead classes and special seminars.
