Santa Fe, N.M.—September 22, 2011—The Moving Image Arts Department at Santa Fe University of Art and Design announced the launch of the Fall Film Showcase, an annual event spotlighting the cinematic work of both current students and recent alumni. The event will include staged readings by working actors in Santa Fe’s theatre and independent film community, screenings of short films and Q&A session with some of the filmmakers.
“We want to share with the Santa Fe community the creative and vibrant recent work of our students and alumni,” said Terry Borst, a faculty member in the department. “Our film graduates often stay in New Mexico, where they continue to make independent films and give back to the region and the community by mentoring media students at their alma mater.”
Borst explained that a homegrown, creative “ecosystem” has taken root here in New Mexico, thanks to the energy and resourcefulness of Santa Fe University’s graduates. “They continue to demonstrate that there is life after film school and that a lively alumni community is busy pursuing the path they initially carved out while studying in the MOV program,” said Borst. “We’re excited to pair their work with selected samplings of fresh new student work.”
